UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has released a teaser trailer showing five cars and the Toyota Gazoo Racing logo. The image also has “Coming Soon” and a date – February 17th. “Get ready for the awakening, as the new lineup of Beasts will be released soon,” read the caption.
Click on the link provided and you will be taken to the interested registration page with a countdown to the February 17th release. The main image is the same five cars and the “Wake the Beast” tagline.
What are these five cars? It’s easy to tell the leftmost from the rightmost cars — they are, of course, the GR Supra and GR86. In December, UMWT announced that it would launch the GR86 in 2023, the GR Supra with a six-speed manual (the A90 is a pure automatic; the 6MT is due in April 2022) and the GR Corolla. In addition to the three actual GR cars, we also saw a pickup truck and an SUV. Last month, an advertisement for the Hilux GR Sport appeared online with an estimated price of RM16Xk. There are many versions of the Hilux GR Sport around the world, but the ad uses images of the Thai version, which makes sense – see here.
Finally, the only SUV in the room. Advertisements for the Corolla Cross GR Sport also surfaced last month, saying the new sporty top model will be a hybrid and priced at RM15Xk. Currently, the Corolla Cross Hybrid is priced at RM142k beyond the local range.
