The Ford F-150 has the Raptor, the Ram 1500 has the TRX, but for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, there’s still no high-performance option to be found.

A few years ago, Houston, Texas-based PaxPower stepped in to fill the void with its original Jackal. The mod adds beefy suspension and flared wheel arches, inspired by the Baja pre-runners, and combines them with the availability of a V-8 engine.

The company now has a new version of the Jackal based on the updated Silverado due in 2022. The Jackal conversion is also available on the related GMC Sierra 1500.

The conversion is $24,950 and can be had on any Silverado grade, including the off-road ZR2 and ZR2 Bison grades introduced with the updated Silverado. The only requirement is that the conversion is designed for a double cab, short bed body.

The conversion began with PaxPower’s own widebody design, which increased the width of the truck by eight inches. New parts can match existing colors, or PaxPower can paint the entire truck a new color.

Then add new suspension parts. These include custom control arms that add 6 inches to the vehicle’s track and increase the ride height by 3 inches. The Jackal also benefits from King Racing 2.5-inch front and rear shocks with remote reservoir and adjustable damping. The rear also features what PaxPower claims is a Deaver progressive leaf spring for a better ride and to allow for extra travel.

Rounding out the list of standard mods are a high-flow Borla exhaust and 17-inch wheels wrapped in 35- or 37-inch BFGoodrich off-road tires.

For the ZR2 model, it starts at $19,950, as PaxPower keeps the stock Multimatic shocks and model-specific leaf springs.

Buyers looking to add extra power are also catered for. The Silverado’s 6.2-liter V-8 tends to be the most popular Jackal-tuned powertrain, and PaxPower’s supercharger upgrade boosts output to 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. The upgrade costs $12,450 and also includes a high-flow air intake, a separate cooling system and an ECU retuning.

PaxPower also offers many additional accessories. Popular items include custom hoods and bumpers, as well as extra lightning, storage boxes and interior upgrades.
