Godzilla lives another year.

In Japan on Thursday, the 2024 Nissan GT-R made its debut with improved aerodynamics, a tweaked fascia and a return to the T-spec and some famous heritage colors.

Nissan hasn’t said how much the revised 2024 GT-R will cost when it goes on sale in the spring. That timing will mark a short run for the 2023 GT-R, which was announced in October after exiting the 2022 model.

Far from all-new, the 2024 version of Godzilla will be available in Premium, T-spec, and NISMO trims. All three versions feature improved aerodynamics that increase downforce while reducing drag. Nissan says the revisions are in pursuit of more confident and responsive handling.

Visual changes are minimal. The easiest way to spot the updated GT-R is the grille-mounted LED daytime running lights, which now appear to feature mesh decals. The entire lower bumper area has been redesigned, with a new grille insert that’s thinner and reshaped in the name of better cooling and reduced drag. Nissan says the changes won’t alter the GT-R’s 0.26 drag coefficient.

NISMO models feature a new rear wing mounted on what Nissan calls a swan-neck mount. The new wing has 10 percent more surface area than before, while the curvature has been redesigned to deliver more downforce without compromising drag. NISMO models also feature model-specific front bumpers and rear diffusers, as well as canards.

The return of the T-spec marks the mid-range for the GT-R lineup. It resurrects two paint shades, Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple III. The former is a tribute to the rarest GT-R ever built, the R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nür, while the latter is a modern version of the R34 GT-R V-Spec. Both colors were last seen on the 2021 GT-R T-spec model. The dark Mori Green interior color also returns.

T-spec models get mechanical improvements over the Premium trim, including carbon-ceramic brakes and a NISMO-tuned stability control system from NISMO models. Mechanical improvements are combined with styling upgrades, including wider front fenders and 20-inch forged gold-tone wheels on NISMO models.

The hand-assembled Takumi-built 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 under the hood has not changed. The engine, rated at 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque, now runs through a standard (previously optional) titanium exhaust system. NISMO models feature upgraded engine internals and more boost, and are rated at 600 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque.

All GT-Rs come with an advanced all-wheel-drive system and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Thanks to the addition of a front limited-slip differential, the NISMO model will be able to transfer power to the ground better.

Inside the GT-R range is an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Recaro bucket seats are upholstered in leather with suede upholstery, and the steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara.
