Apparently, the trend is for motorcycles to use the car-only lanes to pass through tollbooths, rather than the motorcycle-only lanes where they don’t have to pay.
Unfortunately, this ends up causing inconvenience to cars trying to pass through the tollbooth. In these videos posted on social media, car users can be seen who have paid tolls (using RFID) but are unable to pass through the tollbooth because the tollbooth’s sensors have detected that the vehicle has already passed through the tollbooth using the most recent payment. This happens to be It’s a motorcycle not a car.
As this seems to be happening more and more often these days, if a motorcyclist happens to overtake us and enter the toll lane before we manage to get through, there’s nothing we can do but slow down intentionally. Let the motorcyclist pass the toll booth around the boom barrier first.
If this does happen to you, you don’t need to worry too much as you will most likely only be inconvenienced and not be charged twice. You will only be charged once at the toll booth, as repeated charges to the same payment method within a short period of time are likely to be flagged as an error by the system.
If you do get charged twice somehow, that’s where dashcam footage comes in handy, so be sure to install one if you haven’t already.
