The Ministry of Public Works (JKR) has announced that state road B66, Jalan Batang Kali-Genting Highlands, will reopen on 6 January 2023 at 5pm after closing on 16 December 2022. It was previously reported that the route would be closed for a year after a deadly landslide at a camp at Batangkari’s father’s organic farm.
Only one lane of the B66 will be open and its use is subject to certain conditions, the department said in a release. Firstly, only those who work in Genting Highlands and have a confirmation letter from their employer can use the route.
Second, only category 1 (passenger cars, taxis, and MPVs) and category 6 (motorcycles and scooters) vehicles are allowed. Motorists using this route will also not be able to stop at the site of the landslide as slope monitoring is still ongoing and must follow directions on signs that have been placed.
For other motorists heading to Genting Highlands, the department advises them to use one of two alternative routes: Ulu Yam-Batu Caves and Kuala Lumpur-Ipoh.
