The Ministry of Road Transport (JPJ) has announced that it is revising the opening hours of its counter operations at selected Urban Transformation Centers (UTCs) across the country. The changes will be trialled from January 1 to June 30 this year, the department said.
In June last year, it announced that the counters at its UTC office in Peninsular Malaysia will operate continuously from 8am to 9pm on weekdays, while those in East Malaysia will operate from 8am to 7pm. On weekends, the hours of operation are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
It has now been shortened on some weekdays. From now until June 30, the business hours of JPJ in Johor Bahru, Pasir Gudang, Sungai Petani and Kota Bharu UTC will be reduced by four hours, adjusted to Monday to Wednesday from 8 am to 5 pm. They will continue to operate Sunday and Thursday from 8am to 9pm.
As for UTC centers in Sentul, Seremban, Ipoh and Kuantan, JPJ offices will also operate on reduced hours from Tuesday to Thursday, while JPJ branches in UTC Kangar will be on Tuesday to Friday.
For UTC in Tawau, Keningau, Sibu and Miri, working hours will be shortened every Tuesday to Friday. So if you plan on doing any JPJ trades in any of these UTCs, be aware of the revised business hours on weekdays.
