Now available in Malaysia is the 2023 Aveta VADV150 Hybrid scooter priced at RM13,980 excluding road tax, insurance and registration fees. The VADV150 is assisted during acceleration up to 50km/h, which Aveta calls “hybrid assistance” through the use of an “intelligent motor generator” that uses an alternator to feed drive back to the engine.
The engine on the VADV150 is a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC four-valve mill that is EFI-fed and displaces 149 cc. The VADV150 has a rated power of 16.22 hp with electric assist and a maximum torque of 14.6 Nm.
Coming standard is Aveta’s SAF ABS, which runs on 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels, while tire sizes are listed as 110/80 front and 130/70 rear. Suspension is completed by non-adjustable telescopic forks at the front and preload-adjustable twin shocks with remote reservoirs at the rear.
The VADV150 has some features that are not usually found on motorcycles and scooters in the Malaysian market. One feature is a digital video recording (DVR) system that equips the VADV150 with front and rear cameras.
Also standard is the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS), which automatically adjusts the headlight beams according to riding speed and angle, providing a clearer view of the road. In the cockpit, a 7″ TFT LCD displays all the necessary information and also includes a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a Bluetooth connection to the rider’s smartphone.
Other riding conveniences include keyless start, engine stop-start at idle, a two-position manually adjustable windshield and a USB charging port. Under the seats is ample storage space, and the fuel tank has a capacity of 9.3 liters and measures 2,072 x 720 x 1,260 mm, making the VADV slightly larger than the Honda ADV150.
The VADV150 has a seat height of 775mm and a weight of 150kg thanks to the addition of a hybrid electric motor, making it the heaviest scooter in its class. Available in three colours—yellow topaz, sapphire and ruby—all Aveta Malaysia authorized resellers are in stock.
