BMW just announced the upcoming BMW i5 today, and a registration page for interested parties has already popped up on BMW Malaysia’s website. Considering that there isn’t any info yet on the BMW iX1’s website, which seems quick, it should be here before the i5.

If you want to be among the first to own the first electric BMW 5 Series, you can head over to the interest registration page and fill in your details.

According to the BMW Malaysia website, the next-generation BMW 5 Series is codenamed G60, while the electric BMW i5 will be codenamed G60E.

Alongside the all-electric G60E, petrol and diesel versions of the new G60 will feature 48V mild-hybrid technology, and there will also be a 5 Series plug-in hybrid.

We expect BMW Malaysia to also sell petrol and plug-in hybrid petrol versions of the new 5 Series, just like what’s on the current-generation G30 LCI. But the i5 will be the new 5-er, and if you manage to get it before the tax holiday ends, you can buy it without paying any tax (other than SST).
