Following Boon Siew Honda’s teaser video released a few days ago, the 2023 Honda Vario 125 scooter has been officially launched in Malaysia priced at RM7,080. Pricing does include insurance, and the Vario 125 is available in three colors – yellow, blue and red.

The Vario 125 uses the same bodywork as the Vario 150 and is sold alongside its stablemate the Vario 160 (RM9,998), powered by a single-cylinder SOHC liquid-cooled engine displacing 124.9 cc. Honda says the Vario 125 is capable of producing 11.5 hp at 8,500 rpm and 11.74 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm.

Despite being a scooter in the 125 cc displacement class, the Vario 125 is equipped with features normally found in scooters in the 150 cc class. This includes LED lighting, keyless start, a USB charging socket in the front hood pocket, and an anti-theft anti-theft device.

The wheels on the Vario 125 have 14-inch side panels and are fitted with 90/80 tires at the front and 100/80 rubber at the rear. While not equipped with ABS, the Vario uses Honda’s combined braking system with hydraulic disc brakes at the front and mechanical drum brakes at the rear.

Suspension is done with a telescopic fork at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock supporting the rear. Other riding conveniences include a digital instrument panel and 18 liters of under-seat storage.
