The Roads by Porsche app, which helps drivers design bespoke routes, is getting its first major update since its launch in 2019.

The free iOS app now includes a scenic route generator that uses software to assemble routes based on inputs such as curves, terrain, landscape features or points of interest. Users can also designate a circle drive or navigate to a specific destination and use Apple CarPlay to transmit the selected route to the car’s infotainment system.

Porsche says that while traditional navigation apps are designed to get drivers to their destinations in the fastest way possible, this feature is designed to provide maximum enjoyment to the individual driver. In this case, it’s really more about the journey than the destination.

Like previous iterations of the Porsche driving app, Roads by Porsche is also open to non-Porsche drivers. Drivers can share their customized routes with a community of more than 180,000 users, who can then try them out for themselves. The app also suggests a route for the week and highlights points of interest.

The update also brings a new interface, which Porsche claims is a cleaner design. The app also includes an area-based dashboard so drivers can more easily find routes based on where they are, search filters and shortcuts to the most popular route profiles.

The updated Roads by Porsche app is now available for download via the Apple AppStore. However, Android users are still out of luck.
